Saturday 4th of July - Théâtre de la Mer
Since the 1980s, Gilles Peterson has been a central figure in the UK club scene, renowned for his genre-transcending musical approach with jazz as the common thread running through everything he loves.
As one of the UK's most iconic DJs, he's spent over 40 years shaping musical trends as a radio broadcaster, club DJ, producer, and festival curator. His work has influenced DJs and artists worldwide and earned him the lasting admiration of his listeners. He currently hosts a flagship weekend show on BBC Radio 6 Music and, in 2016, launched his online radio platform "Worldwide FM." He's the co-founder of "Worldwide Festival" in Sète (France), celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and "We Out Here" festival in the UK.
As a label head, Gilles remains devoted to discovering and championing new talent through "Brownswood Recordings" (founded in 2006), bringing fresh voices to the music scene including José James, Emma-Jean Thackray, Kokoroko, and Yussef Dayes. Additionally, Gilles Peterson recently published his first book, Lockdown FM - Broadcasting In A Pandemic, further cementing his status as a multifaceted cultural tastemaker.
For our 20th anniversary, Gilles has cooked a very special line up - and you will find him on the wheels of steel for the closing night at Theatre de La Mer on 4th july alongside Eves’ Drop Collective and of course on sunday 5th july
