Tomoki Sanders
Saturday 4th of July - Théâtre de la Mer
Child of the legendary saxophonist Pharoah Sanders, Tomoki Sanders (30) is emerging today as a visionary bandleader and composer. This New York saxophonist weaves subtle connections between jazz, funk, hip-hop, and spiritual music into a sonic universe that's both grounded and cosmic. Trained at the prestigious Berklee College of Music and having collaborated with Ravi Coltrane, Kassa Overall, Jack DeJohnette, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Maurice Brown, and Kyoto Jazz Massive, Tomoki channels both the enduring legacy of their father and the vibrant joy of discovering their own artistic voice.
Their music fuses vaporwave, fusion, jazz, and hip-hop with digital production elements, creating a sonic ritual, a dancing trance full of surprises where improvisation is the engine and groove is the fuel. A unique voice from the new generation of jazz, ready to expand your universe!
